FAQs
At NLYTN Counseling Services, we accept most commercial insurance plans like Highmark, Aetna, Cigna, Optum, and United. If you don’t see yours listed, don’t
worry—just give us a call. We’ll walk you through your options and do our best to find a solution that works for you.
We also offer reasonable self-pay rates for those whose plans we are not in network with. All copays and deductibles are due at the time of service.
You can take advantage of our self-pay rates. We can also arrange for you to get a “superbill’ that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please talk with your insurance company and your therapist if you wish to take advantage of this option.
We required that all clients keep a credit card on file.
Virtual therapy (or online therapy) means you meet with your therapist via secure video from wherever you are. It’s private, HIPAA-compliant, and just as effective as in-person sessions for many therapeutic needs like anxiety, depression, grief, transitions, relationships, and life stressors. Sessions feel just like being together in a cozy room, with no travel required.
Comfort and Convenience – No commute, traffic, or waiting rooms. You can join from anywhere you feel safe and comfortable, whether at home or work.
Accessibility – Great for clients who live farther away, have mobility concerns, or need a more flexible option with busy schedules.
Consistency – Life happens—illness, weather, childcare, or travel can make it hard to come into the office. Virtual sessions make it easier to stay on track with therapy.
Privacy – Sessions are held on a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform to protect your confidentiality.
Effectiveness – Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions for many concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues.
I always start with a free 15-minute phone call to connect, explain my process, and answer any questions you may have. Following this call, you will receive an email with all intake documents and a link to your initial appointment.
All appointments, including assessments and general therapy, take place virtually through a HIPAA-compliant virtual therapy platform, which you can access on your computer or smartphone.
Sessions will typically last 53 – 60 minutes. Your therapist will guide the session to allow time for reflection, questions and scheduling.
During your first session your therapist will review important information about privacy, client rights and your role in the process.
Your therapist will ask questions about your history and will want to hear in more detail what brings you in for services at this time. Feel free to ask questions about the therapeutic process and about how your therapist works with clients.
Feeling that your provider is a match for your needs and your style is important to us and we know that beginning a therapeutic relationship may come with a lot of questions!
We do our best to accommodate your schedule as much as possible, including evenings as needed.
If we don’t have your perfect time available initially, we do work to offer it when it becomes available.
We require 24-hour notice for all cancellations. We charge a cancellation fee of $100 for all no shows or late cancellations.
NLYTN is more than a name—it’s a vision. A place where healing begins, where light breaks through, and where everyone is welcomed with dignity and inclusion. Here, you’re not just another client—you’re a whole person with infinite potential.
